MIKAEL RUDFOLSSON
Mikael Rudolfsson is a rising star in the contemporary music scene, known for his dynamic performances and passion for modern repertoire. He has performed at prestigious venues such as Konzerthaus Wien, Suntory Hall Tokyo, Berliner Philharmonie, and Concertgebouw Amsterdam. His solo repertoire spans from classical composers like Hildegaard von Bingen to modern figures such as Stockhausen and Xenakis, as well as contemporary composers who have written new works specifically for him.
Rudolfsson has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras and ensembles worldwide, including the Hamburger Symphoniker, Ensemble Modern, and Klangforum Wien. He also leads solo projects and collaborates with chamber ensembles, exploring the full range of the trombone’s expressive capabilities.
Previously, he served as principal trombone with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra and now teaches masterclasses internationally. Since 2017, he has been a member of Klangforum Wien and became a professor of trombone at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in 2020. His debut solo album, Encounter, was released in 2024 on the Neos label.
